LankaKonect

The Complaint Management Mobile Application, LankaKonect, developed for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka, is a digital platform designed to enhance the accessibility, efficiency, and transparency of consular services for Sri Lankan citizens, especially migrant workers abroad. It strengthens communication between users and Sri Lankan diplomatic missions, ensuring that complaints, service requests, and urgent concerns are handled in a timely and structured manner.

The application provides a secure and user-friendly interface for individuals to register, log in, and submit complaints across a wide range of issues, including employment disputes, documentation difficulties, welfare concerns, and legal matters. Users can attach supporting evidence such as documents, images, or videos, helping authorities better understand and respond to each case. This approach eliminates many limitations of traditional manual complaint handling, such as delays and lack of visibility.

Once submitted, complaints are automatically categorized and routed to the appropriate authority, including Sri Lankan Embassies, Consulates, the Consular Affairs Division, or the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE). This ensures efficient case handling by assigning matters to the correct institution without delay.

The platform includes real-time tracking features, enabling users to monitor the progress of their complaints, receive updates, and communicate directly with assigned officers when necessary. This enhances transparency, builds trust, and improves accountability across the complaint resolution process.

On the administrative side, the system offers a robust backend with dashboards and reporting tools that help authorities manage cases, monitor response times, and identify recurring issues. The development of LankaKonect is supported by funding from the United Nations International Labour Organization (UN ILO), aligning the initiative with global efforts to protect migrant workers and promote fair labour practices. The application is also designed for scalability and integration with other government digital services, ensuring adaptability to future needs, including expanded service offerings and integration with national systems.
