The Quran in French

The Qur'an (Arabic: القرآن al-Qur'an ?, meaning "the recitation") is the sacred text of Islam. For Muslims, he took the verbatim word of God. This book remains the largest and oldest literary document, completNote 1 and authentic known in Arabic until jour1,2 while musulmaneNote 2 tradition presents him as the first book in Arabic, with the specific character of the inimitability beauty and ideas.

For Muslims, the Koran contains the words of Allah, revelations (ayat) made the prophet and messenger of Islam Muhammad (محمد, Muhammad, the leased) from 610 to 612 until his death in 6323 by archangel Gabriel (جبريل, Jibrîl).

The Quran is sometimes called simply al-kitab (the book), adh-Dhikr (reminder) or Al-Furqan (discernment). In this sense, it is, for Muslims, the uncreated expression of this attribute of Allah sent to the intention of all humanity. The conditions for the writing and fixing of the canonical text that tradition traces the third caliph, Uthman, still the subject of research and debate among scholars and historians of the twenty-first century.
