The LIVELYHIVE app features a library of colorful and interactive digital books for early learners of script-based languages. The app currently has content in Tamil and Hindi, but may add more Indian and South Asian languages in future updates. It also offers a way for Tamil and Hindi speakers to learn English. This app can also be used to help children with speech delays find more ways to communicate, and is totally free!

WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF THIS APP?

This app helps children learn script-based languages without having to learn the script first. Our library of digital books cover most major topics like Parts of the Body, Action words, Feelings, Animals, Foods etc. The words are written in Tamil or Hindi script and transliterated in English. There is also an audio cue to help the user practice the pronunciation and for children with speech delays to hear the words modeled repeatedly. The app also features a simple memory game for each book so that the child can test their learning and collect points! Finally, the app is designed to allow parents to decide how long kids spend on this app and on a device. With the parental control, setting a time-limit is easy with a couple of taps! The books are available for native Tamil and Hindi speakers to learn these same words in English too. All the features above are also available for English learners.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF THESE FEATURES?

We put the focus on first expanding vocabulary and introducing correct pronunciation. With exposure to these words, recognizing context and script may come easier and help cement the language in a little one’s mind.

Our app is also beneficial for children with speech delays, for multi-lingual families, and English language learners. Children with speech delays can benefit from the audio cues which provide sound and word modeling to help kids sound out a more natural pronunciation.
