About MapNat
MapNat, a free app for Mapping Nature
MapNat is a free citizen science app, developed for both citizens and scientists, by the Environmental Research Centre - UFZ, UNI Hanover (Germany) and NINA (Norway). MapNat allows you to discover and register green spaces in nature for recreation, scientific data collection and nature-related social work.
For recreational users, MapNat allows you to easily register and search for recreational spots in green spaces, to engage with friends and family, either collaborating with your insights about the location, or finding the perfect place to relax and enjoy your day.
For scientific users, MapNat allows you to collect data by observation, by face-to-face surveys, or even by asking users to use the app, associating them to different groups, with settings defined by you. Have full access and control of your own and your groups data, therefore contributing to a global database. Improve the scientific knowledge on the preferences of green spaces and associated activities, and generate an outcome that’s valuable for society’s well being.
For activists, MapNat allows you to gather relevant on-site observations and transforme this environmental knowledge into concrete action. Either choosing to work online or offline, MapNat can help implement projects that bring social improvements and empowerment. Create independent teams and bring their collaborative input into one place.
