MSD Integrated PRRS Solutions

An effective PRRS control program consists of a comprehensive approach that includes implementation of biosecurity protocols, diagnostics, reduced disease

transmission, application of control programs and preventive medicine. The PRRS Integrated Solutions program is a tool that brings together the more than 15 years PRRS experience and extensive scientific knowledge at MSD Animal Health. The PRRS Integrated Solutions APP allows for a systematic review of the PRRS status in a production system based on:

• Biosecurity audit

• Diagnostics

• Determination of PRRS status in the farm

• Review of standard interventions pending PRRS status

• Development of customized intervention strategy

• Post- intervention follow-up

The APP has many protocols about PRRS diagnostic and vaccination and also links to a scientific literature database. The APP also links to a proprietary Economic Simulator that allows for estimation of PRRS cost in the farm as well as return on investment of various PRRS intervention strategies. The results from this economic simulation and the other audits form the basis for development of a customized PRRS intervention and action plan. All results and plans are summarized in a comprehensive report.
