Based on math that makes sense, rather than heuristics, the Perfect Mana Base - a mana calculator for Magic: The Gathering (MTG) - will help you get the best chance of having the right mana available when you need it. Utilizing hypergeometric distribution while incorporating the additional likelihood of mulligans, Perfect Mana Base provides recommendations for having a > 90% chance of having the lands drawn when you need them based on the cards you need first.
