About mTOUGH - Developing Mental Toughness in Athletes

mTOUGH is an app to help develop the mental toughness of athletes.

mTOUGH is all about developing mental toughness in athletes of all types. The term mental toughness refers to an athletes ability to deliver in the face of distraction and adversity.

There are many common myths about mental toughness or sport psychology. The truth is, mental preparation needs to be an integral part of training for any athlete who wishes to reach full potential. People say that sport is 90% physical and 10% mental, but it's the mental part that controls the physical. This is why some athletes perform well in practice or low level competition and then struggle when it really matters.

The mTOUGH program is a structured and sequential approach to mental preparation. It builds a solid foundation of mental skills that are refined through repetition and review. Once the foundation is in place, then advanced and detailed issues can be examined to make the athlete bulletproof. We want the athlete to be a trained performer who will focus on their execution and deliver with precision and consistency. This is the goal of the mTOUGH program.

Some of the key components of the program is the influence on the self-talk that goes on in our mind, the ability to re-focus after a distraction, and keeping us properly activated at game time.

The program follows a specific pattern of periodized mental skills. These skills compound week after week improving the stability of the athlete and increasing their ability to communicate with the coach. These skills improve through constant application and reviewed. Mature performers are encouraged to do the entire program from start to finish for the full benefit.

This app will provide you with:

- a sequential delivery of over 30 mental skills.

- informative articles on the details of the skills and how to develop and refine them in practice and in everyday life.

- general push notifications through the week to help keep mental skills in the forefront of your thoughts.

- opportunity to book a 1-on-1 session with the author to fine tune and review a personal program just for you.

Notifications

mTOUGH is set up to send out periodic notifications. These are intended as gentle nudge's to keep you mindful of mental preparation on your regular days as well as game days. The notifications are sequenced and related to the topics found in the content section. Use the nudge to help shape your thought process throughout the day and help you reinforce your mental skills. Teams which have purchased the team package will get custom notifications relative to their games, practices, and tournaments. General notifications follow a cyclical pattern based on the calendar year.
