About My Optimize - Habit & Problem
My Optimize is an app used for helping people optimize themselves.
My Optimize is an application used for helping people improve themselves. The application has two main functions: 1.Help people achieve what they want to persist. 2. Help people solve problems in their daily life.
Before introducing the first function, we would like to introduce a concept first: attentions. Attentions represent the things that we want to persist, it can be the habits we want to form (e.g. Keep early hours, Exercise three times a week), the new changes we want to make (e.g. Become more outgoing, Exercise more), and the reactions we want to take when meet specific events (e.g. Not to play mobile phones before sleeping, Not to smoke in public).Obviously it’s not appropriate to call all of them “habits”. Since they all need attention, here we call them “attentions”.
In this app you can create six kinds of Attentions:
1. Plain Text
You can write some words on it to remind yourself the changes you want to make. For example: “Become more outgoing”, “Keep a good mood”.
You can record your reaction to a specific event when it happens. For example: “Not to play mobile phone before sleeping”, “Not to smoke in public”. When creating an event-driven attention, you need to set its goal and punishment. It works like this: the goal is the total times that you want to react to the event positively, the punishment is the number that will be subtracted from the progress when you take a negative reaction, and the progress is calculated by the following formula: progress = your positive reaction times – your negative reaction times * punishment. When progress reaches your goal, this attention is achieved.
3. Periodic
You can record your habit forming process on it, and the habit need to be periodic. For example: “Keep early hours”, “Exercise three times a week”. When creating a periodic attention, besides the goal and punishment, you also need to set its periodic time (the minimum is 1 day). Moreover, you can attach two additional attribute with it: sub-item number and record time limitation. When you set sub-item number, then in a single cycle you can record as many times as the number you set, for example: “Exercise three times a week”, since in a single cycle you need to record 3 times, you should set its sub-item number to 3. When you set record time limitation, than only in the time you set can you do recording. The two attribute can also be combined together, for example: “Keep early hours”, you can set its sub-item number to 2 and record time limitation to “6:30-7:30, 21:30-22:30”.
For all kinds of attention, you can edit a text called “description” to record some information about this attention, like the attention’s creating background, the reason why you created it, its significance or something else.
That is all about the app’s first function, now let’s see about its second function: Help people solve problems in their daily life. In our daily life, we usually feel unhappy, sad, or fidgety. Whatever it is, if we don’t feel happy, there must be something wrong in our life, which means we need to find the problem and try to solve it, or things would only become even worse. When you find the problem, no matter what the problem is, it can be solved through 3 steps: 1. Describe the problem: make clear about its background, result and seriousness, then define it in your own language; 2. Analyze the problem: find out what caused the problem, you may use the information in step 1 to help you work it out; 3. Solve the problem: give out you solution according to problem’s cause. Based on this simple but useful theory, you can help yourself solve your problems by creating “problem” in this app. A “problem” include 3 texts that can record your description, analyzation and solution of the problem. Maybe this theory seems too simple and useless, but if you practice it with rational thinking, you will find out that it’s invincible.
