Nesøya

Nesøyappen is an entirely new way to explore NESØYA history. We take you on a guided tour around the island where you learn about NESØYA history, from the island appeared millions of years ago and until today.

We have divided the story in about 60 places. When you come to a place, you get the story served in the form of a short text, seasoned with photos, drawings and maps. The range is great; we tell about everything from how isskjæringen happening to why there is parking chaos outside KIWI. The medieval castle is a must, along with the Battle of Tears and the theory of viking ship on Storenga. We've also included fun little stories, like the origin of the name that Olabakken and Hell.

The text is written by Hans Jakob Matthiasen, who has previously written "Short bursts of NESØYA long history". The idea and development of this new type of app is the Simen Burud behind, in collaboration with Oscar Apeland. Nesøya Eldres Well has contributed both financially and with historical background material.
