O Canto De Aracuã

The Song of Aracuã - The aracuã-pintado (Ortalis guttata), also known as aracuã-comum, araquã, araquã-pintada or aracuã-paulista, is a species of bird of the Cracidae family. It is found in the following countries: Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

Its natural habitats are: tropical or subtropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, and highly degraded secondary forests.

Features

The bird measures 40 to 60 cm in length and weighs between 500 and 600 g. It is characterized by the speckled pattern on the breast, although the color of the plumage varies according to the subspecies. They come together between October and November, and make single nests approximately 2 meters above the ground.
