About Own Map

Turn pictures into actual maps

Step 1: Take a picture of a map

Step 2: Align it on top of google maps (to provide coordinates)

Step 3: Use it as an actual map to navigate around.

Very useful to navigate around exhibitions, music festivals or national parks. There is always a map at the entrance, however we all know, that to figure out where one is actually located is not always easy.

Every attempt has been made to make this as simple as possible. Most of the features of an actual map are there, two finger map zoom and rotate work as you expect. There's a scale and a compass button. Long tapping on random locations shows you the distance and lets you share the location. Suggestions to improve user experience are welcome.

This is a free app and contains no ads does not use the Internet (besides loading google map tiles). It's recommended to allow it to access location of your device, but works even without it, although with limited functionality.

A quick list of missing features:

- import/export so you can share your maps with your friends

- make geo-positioning of a picture even easier (I have a few ideas)
