Have you ever wished to use a tablet’s user interface with more things on screen? Have you ever thought why you have a phone’s user interface even if you have a really big device?

If yes, this application is what you need. You can modify your device’s screen resolution dynamically and set any resolution you like. After finishing with the setup, your phone will adapt to the resolution dynamically when orientation changes and possibly it will behave like a tablet if you want to.

Requirements:

1. You need root access and basic knowledge about screen resolution.

2. You must read the “FAQ” section below.

FAQ:

Q: I don’t know what resolution to use. By letting me choose from any value it looks infinite. What can I do?

A: The main purpose of the application is to set any resolution you like. You can look here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Vector_Video_Standards4.svg) to get an idea about default resolutions.

Q: I set the resolution at 10x10. Everything is screwed up. What can I do?

A: Reboot your device. If problem not fixed you must find a guy who knows what “adb” is for Android. After you find him, tell him to run the following commands one-by-one. 1. “adb shell” 2. “su” 3. “wm”. Then a description about the use of this command will appear. Read the description and you will understand.

Q: The application is slowing down my device. What’s going on?

A: The application has nothing to do with the slowing down. It calls an executable which is provided by the system. After all, a lot of things are happening. Device rotation - Front app rotates – Phone As Tablet app runs - Android executable is running - Front app needs to re-run.

Q: I have Galaxy Nexus. Can you give me a suggestion about resolution values?

A: Of course I can do this. I am using this device for development. Portrait Mode = 900x1600, Landscape Mode = 960x1706. Don’t forget to increase the size of the letters to “Large” from device’s “Settings” screen if you feel uncomfortable.

Q: I changed the resolution from 1280x720 to 1280x721 and nothing happens.

A: Try to use only even values. Such as 1280x722.

Q: I don't like the UI. I want to modify the application according to my needs. I have ideas for some features. What can I do about these facts?

A: You can fork my repository (https://github.com/BILLyTheLiTTle/PhoneAsTablet). Feel free to contribute to the source code.
