Play Away the Smoke

Since we are living in a technological village, we want to create a mobile app-a game that will allow us to test our community’s knowledge on how smoking is affecting our Watershed. It will also educate and of course be “fun”. Most of all, we can continue to learn from our community through research and continue to do our part as a school to educate and share resources.

‘Play Away the Smoke’ is the answer. We are aware that there are lot of advertisements out there that seeks to discourage smoking but manufacturers are getting creative to make it harder for smokers to quit. We will give information in an entertaining way to ensure that our message gets heard. Eventually, once people stop smoking, we will all live longer and healthier. If we are healthier, then there will be less pressure on the health care system. There will also be less pollution and the money that is spent in eliminating the butts can be used in other ways. It is bad enough that littering is not taken as seriously as other crimes. We have to still find a way to reduce the amount of taxpayers money spent on cleaning the watersheds. It costs money to clean litter. Can you imagine what a state can do with that money?

This app will help non-smokers to stick to their reasons for not smoking and to encourage smokers to quit or to gradually reduce the “number” of cigarettes they smoke. This can be achieved by informing the community about the health concerns, the money they can actually save by not smoking, the reduction of pressure on the health care system, the reduction of litter, and the safety of the birds.
