The Portuguese Football Team is the national team of Portugal and represents the country in international football competitions. It is managed by the Portuguese Football Federation.

The national team officially debuted on December 18, 1921 (100 years, 11 months and 16 days ago) against Spain, a game that ended 3-1 in favor of the Spaniards. The first victory was obtained on June 18, 1925, against Italy, by 1-0. Portugal's debut in the final phase of a major competition took place in 1966, when the national team reached the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup, where it would be beaten by the host team, and future champion, England. Portugal finished the tournament in third place after beating the Soviet Union.
