Private Diary: Scriptum

Scriptum is a private diary and daily journal built around one page a day and a new journal prompt every morning. There is no account to create. Your journal stays on your phone, and nothing leaves it unless you ask.

A DIARY THAT ASKS FIRST

Most journal apps open on an empty page and wait. Scriptum opens with a question, a different journal prompt each morning, so there is always somewhere to begin. Answer it in a line or fill the page. One day is one entry, of any length you like.

Missed yesterday? Open the calendar and tap the day. Any day that has already gone can still be written.

WRITE HOWEVER SUITS YOU

• Type, or use it as a voice diary: speak and watch your words land on the page.

• Add a photograph to remember the day by.

• Log your mood in one tap, and see a month of moods at a glance.

• Note where you were, when that is part of the day.

• A reminder at an hour you choose, so the page is not forgotten.

• Dark mode for writing late at night.

A PRIVATE DIARY, NOT MERELY AN ENCRYPTED ONE

• No account. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to sign in to.

• No analytics, no trackers, no advertising anywhere in the app.

• The whole diary works offline.

• Most diary apps keep your writing on a server. This journal has no server to keep it on.

FIND IT AGAIN YEARS LATER

• Search every entry you have ever written.

• A calendar of the days you wrote, and the days you did not.

• A streak for the days you keep, if a streak is what keeps you going.

• Open any date and read it exactly as you left it.

• Save the whole diary, words and photographs together, as a single file that only you hold.

WHAT PEOPLE USE IT FOR

A daily journal. A gratitude journal, for the three good things at the end of a day. A mood diary and mood tracker. A dream diary, written before the dream goes. Notes on a trip while it is still happening. Somewhere to put the thought that has been circling since Tuesday. One private page a day is enough for all of it.

SCRIPTUM COMPLETE

An optional upgrade, for when the free journal is not enough.

• A journal with a lock: keep your diary behind your fingerprint, your face, or a password.

• Up to ten photos on a page, arranged for you.

• Sketch over the paper in ink.

• Stickers to decorate a page, every pack of them.

• Have a rambling entry tidied by AI into something you will want to reread. Only that entry is sent to be tidied, and nothing is kept.

• Colour the whole app to suit you.

• Turn your journal into a printable PDF book, typeset page by page.
