ProdScanner

ProdScanner, short for Product Scanner, is an application designed to simplify product and inventory management through barcode scanning. Whether you’re using it for professional purposes or in your daily activities at home, ProdScanner helps you track and manage your products with ease. The app was tested using a Samsung M30s phone under various conditions:

A UPC barcode with 13 digits and a width of 3 cm was successfully scanned from a distance of 1.1 meters under medium lighting conditions.

Additionally, the app was tested with a larger Code 128 barcode containing 5 characters and measuring 13 cm in width, which was successfully scanned from a distance of 4 meters.

The barcode can also be scanned from farther distances depending on the zoom capabilities of the phone’s camera. These tests demonstrate the versatility and effectiveness of ProdScanner in different scanning scenarios, from close-up inventory management to scanning larger barcodes from a distance.

Furthermore, ProdScanner is capable of scanning QR Codes and Data Matrix codes, expanding its functionality to handle a wide range of 2D barcodes. This feature allows users to access additional information encoded in these more complex barcode formats, making the app even more versatile.

The app offers users the following features:

Scan In/Out: Scan products using the phone’s camera to easily track and manage inventory. Users can record stock in and out by scanning the product’s barcode. It is recommended to first enter the products in the Products window to avoid any incorrect scans.

Printer: The app allows users to print transactions by selecting specific dates, providing detailed transaction reports.

Transactions: Monitor transactions for a specific product by scanning its barcode, making it easier to track inventory movements for that product.

Products: Add new products to the database for easier management.

Email Report: Send an Excel report via email that contains the total quantity for each product for easier review and tracking.

Barcode Scanning Guidelines: To ensure accurate barcode scanning, please hold your device steadily and position it directly in front of the barcode. Avoid scanning from an angle or while the device is shaking. Adequate lighting is essential for optimal results; if necessary, use the flash feature available within the app to enhance visibility during scanning.
