Project HerHome was designed to function as a complete toolkit for women experiencing homelessness. It aims to tackle some of the unique issues they face on the streets, many of which go overlooked.

Problem -> More than 85% of the shelters available today are mixed-gender. While these are designed to be safe havens for women, women experience violence on startling levels within them. They are vulnerable and marginalized, and do not have access to the resources they need, forcing vast majorities of them to 'rough sleep' on the streets.

Project HerHome's Solution -> In such situations, women have a hard time finding women-only shelters that will provide them with the support they deserve. Thus, the app supplies connects users with credible and safe women-only shelters near their location for them to avail. It also lets them visualize these resources through the help of a map and provides them with directions to the desired location.

The app also connects the women with multiple financial and rental assistance programs to help them get back on their feet and secure independent housing.

Problem -> Women experiencing homelessness do not have the sanitation and personal hygiene resources to cope with their period each month. They are forced to use unsanitary make-shifts that promote the onset of infections. Project HerHome also has multiple resources for women who might be pregnant or with kids. It helps them get in touch with free heath clinics for prenatal checkups.

Project HerHome's Solution -> The app features international organizations who provide menstruation supplies. It helps them connect with their local branch to get the supplies.

Problem - > More than 93% of women on the streets have experienced some form of violence.

Project HerHome's Solution -> The app has a 'Keep Me Safe' section. It supplies women with essential self defense and disease prevention tips and videos. It also has an SOS button that lets them instantaneously connect with 911 if they are in a dangerous situation or are being assaulted. With a click, the app sends 911 a text with your current location to help you stay safe.

Problem -> Women are marginalized in terms of access to mental heath resources. They are unable to get the help they need to process their emotions and cope with the trauma.

Project HerHome's Solution -> The app features a self-care toolkit that has been developed by professionals. It guides women on meditation and mindfulness activities as well as helps them incorporate positive affiliations and navigate ups and downs through the embedded journal feature.
