Islamic boarding school is non-formal education with its traditions and characteristics of studying the Yellow Book as learning material. The yellow books that are often studied in Islamic boarding schools include the books of fiqh, ushul fiqh, Sufism, tafsir, tauhid, nahwu, balagah and so on written by the great scholars of the previous century.

One of the studies that is often studied in Islamic boarding schools is the study of fiqh. Fiqh is the science that regulates human deeds/actions, the relationship between humans and Allah as their God, (habluminallah), which concerns worship, the relationship between humans and humans (habluminanas), namely social relationships, the relationship between humans and nature (habluminal alam), namely how to prosper the earth.
