AR application for the exhibition Reason versus Cit²: Zlín Industrial Design 1959–1992.

The second exhibition will focus on events in the field of technical design in Zlín (Gottwald) and its wider surroundings. The beginning of the observed period coincides with the beginning of teaching of shaping machines and tools in Zlín at the university level (which also marked the beginning of specialized higher education of designers for cooperation with the engineering industry in Czechoslovakia). We can consider the important design tours of Zdeněk Kovář and his students in South America in the early 1960s, and especially the international symposium, as culminating points where organic (sculptural) forms disappeared from design in order to replace them with more optimal cubic shapes in connection with technological changes. , which took place in 1968 in Gottwald. The end represents the division of Czechoslovakia and at the same time the demise of the existing social and economic structures associated with the disintegration of the institutional framework of Czechoslovak design. The dominant personalities of the observed period are mainly teachers and designers Zdeněk Kovář and František Crhák, who with their works co-created the distinctive face of not only Zlín, but also Czechoslovak design.
