Now require android 6+ . Users might want to give permissions prior to start to avoid the infamous screen overlay issue. Permission grants needed are Location only (needed for the Map and Location services by Google Play). A "shortcut" is to suffer a few exits+restarts (app will exit if Location permission is not given) and answer "Allow" to the questions that causes them. After that the app should be operative.

Built around the "Scandinavian runic-text Database", this app will list preserved runic inscriptions on any material, including stones, metal and wood. App relies heavily on location information and listings and map views are relative to your location. An extensive search function is included, as settings to avoid having to work the entire database every time.

Map View - Lists objects centered around your present location. Any marker can be selected, upon which Google navigation icons will appear. Selecting them will show you how to get to your selected destination.

List view - Lists objects sorted with respect to your distance to them. Selecting any item in the list will bring you to a detailed view of the object, with Norse and English text, as well as links to on-line resources for that object, when available. Selecting the Map icon at the bottom will bring up a Map view including you and the object. As in Map view, selecting the object marker brings up Google navigation icons.

Search View - Search database in Complete or Context scope. Matches (if any) will show up in same format as in List view. Selecting an object will bring up a detailed view with a Map icon, as for List view.

Settings - Designed to be able to exclude objects of limited interest. The database include any runic object, also minor items on display in institutions that may be of limited interest to the average user. Settings are available to exclude as many as possible of these. First click at this item has been seen to be problematic on some devices - if so, just restart the app and problems should be gone. Can be a bit sluggish on less powerful devices.
