About SABOT-X

SABOT-X provides Gunnery Skills and Conduct of Fire training.

SABOT-X Conduct of Fire Module is meant for a crew to operate and train together, so there is almost no functionality in a “single player mode”. The M2A3 BFV requires three crew members: TC, Gunner, and an Instructor Operator (IO). The M1A1 Abrams requires four crew members: TC, Gunner, Loader and an IO. SABOT-X does not have a driver station, allowing the driver to participate as an IO. All SABOT-X crew stations can be conducted on Phones or Tablets, making the use of AR Headsets completely optional and not a requirement. The IO and Loader stations cannot be conducted on a VR headset. This requires at least one tablet or phone per M2A3 crew and two Phones or Tablets per M1A1 crew. SABOT-X is designed to be used in Portrait mode on Phones and Tablets. Rotating these devices into Portrait mode allows for all SABOT-X buttons to function and increase screen and application visibility.

WIFI LAN the devices that are part of the crew need to be on the same wifi network to exchange information. One way this can be accomplished is by having one person turn on their cellphone hotspot and everyone connecting to that hotspot. There is no requirement for an active internet connection to train with SABOT-X, so “data” is not used while using SABOT-X. Turning on your devices Hot Spot will increase battery usage.

Creating a crew: the first person to “log in” and create the crew for training starts the “server” on their device. If the crew is using a mix of Android and Apple devices, an Android device must be the “server”. The crew member whose device was designated as the “server” device will select the “Create Crew” option inside the “Conduct of Fire” module and choose the “Call Sign” and vehicle they want to train on. The other crew members will choose “Join Crew” from the “Conduct of Fire” module and select the appropriate “Call Sign”, then select “Join Crew”. At this point, if using an Apple device, the Apple user will need to input the IP address of the “server” device. The IP address is displayed in the bottom left corner of the “server” device (device that created the crew) before the “server” device chooses their position and selects “Start”. The Apple users will select the appropriate “Call Sign” and input the “server” IP address by selecting “IP” from the bottom middle of the menu screen. A pop-up window will be displayed. Tap on the “Server IP” line to bring up the keyboard and input the “server” IP address (for example 192.168.0.143), select “Done” from the keyboard menu, verify the

port is 7777 and select “Connect”. From there each user selects the crew

position they will train in and selects “Start” to join the training. The IO can now customize engagements and run crews through as many engagements as they want.
