Salmo 48

1 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God.

2 His holy mountain, beautiful and majestic, is the joy of all the earth. As the heights of Zaphon is mount Zion, the city of the great king.

3 In their citadels God reveals Himself as their protection.

4 See! The kings joined forces, and together they advanced against her.

5 When they saw her, they were astonished and fled in terror.

6 Right there dread overwhelmed them; writhed like the woman in childbirth.

7 You were like the east wind when you destroyed the ships of Tarshish.

8 As we have heard, we have seen it now in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God preserves it steadfast for ever.

9 In your temple, O God, we meditate on your loyal love.

10 As your name, O God, your praise reaches the ends of the earth; Your right hand is full of righteousness.

11 Mount Zion rejoices; the cities of Judah rejoice because of your righteous decisions.

12 Let Zion run around her, contain her towers,

13 watch your walls well, examine your citadels, that you may speak to the next generation

14 that this God is our God for ever and ever; He will be our guide until the end.
