Sensafety - Do you feel safe?
About Sensafety - Do you feel safe?
Do you feel safe at your location right now?
The Sensafety app lets you explore how safe or unsafe your location or a place you are about to visit is perceived by others. It does so by asking urban safety scientists around the globe to rate the safety at their locations and to share their impressions with the citizen science research project Sensafety. So, if you've ever wondered whether the places you visit are perceived as safe or unsafe then you should join the research project Sensafety anonymously as a volunteer and become an urban safety scientist for your neighborhood or city.
With the Sensafety app, you have the unique opportunity as an urban safety scientist to rate the safety at your location and to share your feelings of safety with the Sensafety app. To explore the perceived safety situation around the globe, you can either use the build-in digital map, the augmented reality view or the virtual safety compass. Moreover, a history section within the app lets you inspect chronologically all safety ratings you have ever submitted to the Sensafety project.
The research project Sensafety was initiated and is maintained by the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. The goal is to make the general feeling of safety in a city visible and accessible to everyone in the spirit of transparency. The technical platform for Sensafety, including the app and the backend, were developed at and are operated by the chair of Service-centric Networking at the Institute of Telecommunication Systems.
