Shift Planner

Shift Planner is a roster and pay tracker built for people who work shifts — nurses, carers, retail and hospitality staff, drivers, security, first responders, and anyone paid by the hour.

Your rota reads like a rota: every day is a block carrying its shift code, and the whole month compresses into a single strip so "four on, four off" is visible at a glance. Log a shift in two taps, and the app works out the hours and the money — breaks, overtime, double time and night rates included.

WHY SHIFT PLANNER

• Works fully offline — no internet needed to use it

• No account, no sign-in, no ads

• We never see your shifts or your pay — they live on your phone

• Built dark-first for 3 a.m. starts, with a light theme for daylight

• Home screen widget with your next shift and the week ahead

ROSTER

• Month calendar of colour-coded shift blocks with short codes (D, L, N…)

• Reusable shift templates: start and end time, default break, colour, own hourly rate

• Overnight shifts handled properly — a 22:00–06:30 night is one shift, not two

• Rotating patterns: build a cycle like 4 on / 4 off or 2 days / 2 nights / 4 off once, preview how it lands, then add it to your calendar in one go

• Choose whether your week starts Monday, Saturday or Sunday

PAY

• Default hourly rate, or a different rate per template

• Daily overtime and double-time thresholds with your own multipliers

• Weekly overtime that tops up only the hours daily overtime missed

• Night differential: a percentage uplift for hours inside your night window

• Automatic unpaid break deduction after a set shift length

• Flat tax estimate for a take-home figure

• 40+ currencies, with the right number of decimals for each

EARNINGS

• Gross and take-home for the month

• Hours, shift count and overtime at a glance

• "What made it up": standard, overtime, double time and night uplift

• Hours per day chart

EXPORT

• PDF timesheet ready to send to a manager or payroll

• Spreadsheet (Excel) for invoicing or your own records

• Calendar file (.ics) that Google, Apple and Outlook calendars import — no calendar permission needed

BACKUP

• Back up your whole roster, pay rules included, to one file you keep in Drive or email

• Restore it after a reinstall or on a new phone — nothing is lost when you switch

REMINDERS

• Optional notification before each shift, as far ahead as you like

PERMISSIONS, AND WHY

• Notifications and alarms — only if you turn on shift reminders

• Run at startup — so reminders and the widget survive a restart

Shift Planner is free, ad-free, and keeps working in a basement ward, a depot, or anywhere the signal drops.
