Signals

Signals is a game that rewards you based on your real world exploring efforts. You will complete challenges and earn points just by exploring the world without the need to look at your display all the time just like most games require. Just try it for a week or two and see if it suits you. Everything you collect helps build a database of Wi-Fi and Cell coverage that is completely anonymous, only information associated with your account by default are personal statistics and your challenge progress.

Signals uses your phones Wi-Fi and Cell radios to see all the Wi-Fi's and active Cell at your location. It then takes all the important data from this search and combines it with location and activity and sends it to a server. Server than saves anonymous data (stripped of your user identification and time when the collection occurred) to the database from which map can be generated. Server also during the processing creates your personal stats and processes your active challenges. After processing you receive upload report which is saved only on your phone. All of this can happen hands-free if you have automatic collection and uploading activated. You can just enjoy the occasional upload reports, challenge results and map coverage.
