SOLAR-FRNSW

SOLAR is only accessible to firefighters taking part in a trial conducted by Phoenix Australia, University of Melbourne.

SOLAR is an app that aims to provide skills to manage stress and trauma better. SOLAR was developed by Australian mental health experts and firefighters to specifically address the challenges firefighters face in managing their stress and emotions. Black Dog Institute, University of New South Wales, FRNSW, and iCare are all involved in the development of the app. Any input into the app is completely confidential and will not be shared outside of the University of Melbourne research team.

The skills in SOLAR are quick and easy to learn, and take just a few minutes a day. Users can work through the program at their own pace, when it’s convenient for them, and select which parts of the program are most relevant to them. Telephone support is also available if users want to speak to a professional.

As part of the trial, after downloading the app, users will be randomised to receive one of two different programs. Users will have access to the other version of the program once they have completed the trial.

SOLAR is free to download and use, and there are no ads.
