Street Connect

StreetConnect is a system designed to help organizations serving the homeless and low-income community communicate with their clients, informing them of job opportunities, medical camps, etc. Organizations set up the Web-based portion of our system on their servers, and enter the phone numbers of the clients they wish to communicate with. If clients install the StreetConnect app, they will receive messages through the app. If not, they will receive the messages as text messages.

Sending the information through the app allows much richer information to be sent. Links to maps, surveys, RSVPs, images, etc. can all be attached to the message.

For homeless people, cellular phones have a special meaning, as they enable their connection with the world. The StreetConnect development team is working with the Mobile4All project at Sparrow Mobile to develop apps that will make these phones even more useful for these individuals. Street Connect enables low-income people, homeless or not, to find out about resources available, such as free meals, spots in a shelter, or even jobs.
