Surah Luqman

It has 34 verses and is named after a wise man who was not a prophet, but a righteous servant of Allah. Surah Luqman contains some of the advice and guidance that Luqman gave to his son, emphasizing the importance of worshipping Allah alone, being grateful to Him, being good to parents, being humble, being patient, and avoiding evil. Some of the benefits of reciting Surah Luqman are:

- Being rewarded ten times the number of idolaters and non-idolaters: According to a hadith, whoever recites Surah Luqman and Surah Hijr in a two-rak'at prayer every Friday, he will remain safe from poverty, insanity, and sudden calamity. He will also be rewarded ten times the number of idolaters and non-idolaters¹.

- Increasing one’s understanding and improving one’s oration: According to another narration, if one writes this surah in a container, then washes it, and then drinks from that container, one’s understanding will increase and his ability to speak will improve greatly.

- Increase in sustenance: According to another narration, whoever recites Surah Luqman every Friday will have his sustenance increased by Allah and will be raised in the company of the prophets on the Day of Judgment.

- Increase in knowledge and faith in Allah: Surah Luqman is a reminder of the oneness of Allah, and it emphasizes His attributes of knowledge, power, and majesty. Reciting these verses can help to increase the reciter's knowledge of Allah, and to strengthen their faith.

Surah Luqman is a surah that teaches us about the wisdom and piety of Luqman, the importance of the Quran, the guidance of the prophets, and the fate of the wrongdoers.
