Switching Power Supply Circuit

The term switching power supply SMPS (Switched-Mode Power Supply) may be new to some of us, even though this power supply device has long been used as a substitute for a transformer later. What we usually learn is a simple power supply regulator consisting only of transformer bridges, diodes, and capacitors

So what's the difference between a Switching Power Supply and an Ordinary Power Supply?

Simply put, SMPS does not take up space, while conventional power supplies are too large

Understanding SMPS, SMPS has two meanings of the word, namely:

Power Supply: a device that functions to provide a suitable source of electrical power with an equipment. In general, the available power source is 220V ac voltage, while the voltage needed for an equipment is generally dc voltage.

Regulator Switching: an electronic circuit that functions to make the output voltage stable against changes such as, input voltage is not constant, load current is not constant, room temperature is not constant.
