Tafsir al-Jalalain, literal meaning: "tafsir dua Jalal" is a famous Qur'anic commentary book, originally compiled by Jalaluddin al-Mahalli in 1459, and then continued by his student Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi in 1505. Jalaludin al-Mahalli started writing tafsir from the beginning of the Al-Kahf chapter to the end of the An-Naas, after which he interpreted the Al-Fatihah to completion. Al-Mahalli then died before he could continue. Jalaluddin as-Suyuthi then continued, and started from Surah Al-Baqarah to Surah Al-Isra '. Then he put the interpretation of the Al-Fatihah surah at the end of the previous sequence of interpretations of Al-Mahalli.
