The Free Radio

The Free Radio (Ukrainian “Вільне Радіо”, “Vilne Radio”) is an independent radio station located in Bakhmut, Donetsk Region, Ukraine.

The Free Radio undertook a mission to establish and develop a completely independent media in the CTO (Counter-Terrorist Operation) zone in Ukrainian Donbass.

We aim to address the national challenges by countering the extremist propaganda and disinformation in the Donetsk Region through independent FM and online broadcasting.

The Free Radio is the only radio in Bakhmut district broadcasting local news highly relevant to the people living in the area. It has evolved into media serving needs of the local people to access non-biased and credible information compliant with international standards of media conduct.

The Free Radio is financially and thus politically independent from any business or political circles.
