Block short-form feeds in the apps you choose and schedule your focus time.
Do short-form feeds turn “just a minute” into much longer? 📱
thumBlock is a focus app that helps you pause before the next swipe and choose where your time goes.
When protection is on, thumBlock detects supported short-form feed screens and shows a calm block screen.
Go back, go home, or open the app only when you really mean to.
Instead of forcing you to quit everything, thumBlock creates a small moment of choice between your thumb and the next scroll. 🌿
Key features
📵 Detect and block short-form feeds
thumBlock shows a block screen when a supported short-form feed is detected in supported apps, browsers, or in-app webviews.
Regular app use stays available, while thumBlock steps in only for supported short-form feed screens that can pull your focus away.
🧭 Choose your next step
From the block screen, you can choose “Go back,” “Go home,” or “Open app.”
Leave the feed right away, return to your home screen, or continue only when it is intentional.
🎛️ Choose what to protect
Pick the supported app groups you want thumBlock to protect.
See what is installed, check what is available, and adjust protection to match your own habits.
⏰ Schedule protection around your routine
Set protection windows for study time, work time, bedtime, or any part of the day when you want fewer interruptions.
Use daily, weekday, or weekend schedules so protection follows your routine automatically.
🔐 Passcode lock
Add a 4-digit passcode before protection can be turned off.
It is useful when you want a little extra friction before breaking a rule you set for yourself.
📊 Review your patterns
Check when protection was active and when short-form feeds were detected.
Use your records to understand the times of day when scrolling is most likely to pull you in.
✍️ Customize your block message
Change the title shown on the block screen.
Use a phrase that works for you, like “Time to refocus” or “Take a breath.”
🔔 Protection status notifications
Optional notifications help you see when protection is active.
Notification permission is used only to show protection status more clearly.
Use thumBlock when you want to:
🌙 Stop bedtime scrolling from pushing sleep later
📚 Stay focused while studying or working
☕ Keep short breaks from turning into long sessions
🧘 Adjust your habits without deleting the apps you still use
⏳ Protect specific times of day from short-form feeds
thumBlock is not about quitting everything.
It is about noticing the moment your thumb moves first, taking a breath, and choosing what happens next. 🛡️
Accessibility Permission Notice
thumBlock uses Android Accessibility permission to provide its core blocking feature.
While protection is on, Accessibility is used to read the current supported short-form feed screen and related UI text on this device so thumBlock can detect supported short-form feeds. When needed, thumBlock may also read the current address text shown in a supported browser or in-app webview to detect supported short-form links.
thumBlock uses this permission to detect supported short-form feeds and show the block screen.
thumBlock does not take screenshots. Information checked through Accessibility is processed on this device. This data is not sold or shared.
Android does not allow apps to turn on Accessibility permission automatically, so you must enable thumBlock manually in Android settings. You can turn this permission off at any time in Android settings.
Notification Permission Notice
Notification permission is used to show protection status.
It is optional, and you can still use the app’s main settings without allowing notifications.
Use thumBlock to stop scrolling on autopilot and start choosing your time more intentionally. 🌱
