Real Facts Of the Titanic

On April 15, 1912, the Titanic sank, at the time it was considered the most luxurious ocean liner in the world. The sinking took place after hitting an iceberg on its way to New York from Southampton, England. The ship traveled with 2240 passengers including crew on board. This tragic event cost the lives of 1500 persons.

An amazing fact of this story is that 700 people survive. If you traveled in first-class you had more probability of surviving than at a lower level. The number of survivors was 492 passengers and 214 crew members.

Several hypotheses have been suggested over the years. This app exposes them:

One of them was that the Ship had bad materials, the rivets on the Titanic's hull had notable deficiencies. They were not all the same, nor were they the same composition, or even placed in the same way. In addition, those located in the fore and aft area were of much lower quality than those in the center of the ship.

Another theory is that, on January 4, 1912, four months before the tragedy, there was a rare alignment between the Moon and the Sun that caused the gravitational pulls of these stars to reinforce each other.

Others say there was a fire in the boiler area. This story has also a theory that says that an optical illusion occurred when the Titanic left the warm Gulf Stream and entered the cold Labrador Sea.
