Trafocomm

Trafocomm is a dedicated application for field engineers/technicians to install, configure, test, and commission Smart Transformer (Distribution Transformer Monitoring System / DTMS) devices in a structured, fast, and documented manner. This application assists with the process from the initial installation stage to the device being ready for operation and connected to the monitoring system/cloud, while ensuring each step meets quality and safety standards.

Main Objectives

- Trafocomm is designed to:

- Accelerate the Smart Transformer installation process in the field.

- Reduce human error through checklists and data validation.

- Standardize commissioning procedures across teams/areas.

- Provide evidence of work and neat digital documentation.

Main Features

1) Device Registration & Identification

- Input/scan device ID/serial number (QR/Barcode if available).

- Record installation metadata: location, feeder, substation/transformer, transformer capacity, installation date, and technician data.

- Validate data formats for consistency.

2) Communication & Connectivity Setup

- Device communication configuration (e.g., connection parameters, gateway identity, communication mode).

- Test the connection to the network (e.g., cellular/WiFi/Ethernet, depending on the device).

- Monitor connection status and signal quality (RSSI/latency, if available).

3) Installation Parameter Configuration

- Basic parameter settings required before the device is active:

Transformer profile & capacity

Sensor mapping (RSTN current/voltage, temperature, etc.)

Threshold limits (alarm, unbalance, overload, over/undervoltage)

Physical and wiring inspection

Sensor and CT polarity verification

RSTN voltage/current and neutral reading validation
