In this site you will find most of the world’s largest cities, yet you can also read about many cities which are on a very different scale altogether.

Many cities are packed with all types of restaurants and hotels and have entertainments of very description. Most have fascinating histories, with museums, art galleries and all manner of sights to inform, delight and entertain. Yet you will find others with few obvious sights to attract visitors. Such cities require you to soak up the atmosphere, take in the style of daily life and go with the flow before you can full appreciate them.

The experience and pleasure to be gained from visiting cities in the developing world is a very different one from going to San Francisco or Venice or Paris – almost certainly more challenging but just as rewarding and enjoyable.

Whichever cities you put on your own must-visit list, make sure you do your research and read as much as you can about your chosen destination before you make the final decision to go. Gain some knowledge of the customs, culture, history and layout of your cities and try to learn some of the language. Just knowing how to say: ‘Good Morning ‘and ‘Thank you’ in the local language can often help to get you off on the right footing.

Don’t forget that cities can be dangerous places – indeed included in this site are some cities you would be unwise to visit at present. So always consult your government’s official advice about whether to travel and what precautions to take.
