Private communication between therapists and patients

Therapists should create accounts on the Tunnel T web site (http://tunnelt.com). That's where therapists add clients to their accounts, keep treatment notes, and take care of Tunnel T billing. Once you create a web account, go to Settings to "Add another device." You will get a passphrase. Enter this passphrase into the mobile app, and you now have a mobile messenger to communicate with your clients.

Clients/patients: your therapist will send you a passphrase. Simply enter it when the app prompts you. Then you will select a 6-digit PIN, and you're ready.

Therapists and patients need a safe, private space to converse online. We call it a tunnel. Use your tunnel to discuss appointments, medication, billing, or the actual topics of the therapy.

Leave messages for each other, to read and reply to when convenient, or chat in real time. Share files (such as bills or documents). All of it is encrypted to maintain security.

Tunnel T is a sophisticated yet simple platform for private communication. It’s HIPAA-compatible. Using Tunnel T takes therapist-patient communication out of your regular email to prevent reading of private messages by colleagues, friends, and family, as well as inadvertent misaddressing and cc'ing.

Tunnel T security

Tunnel T's fundamental goal is to protect the privacy of your communications. Thus we always choose to obtain as little information about you as possible. We choose to encrypt all of the data you store on our site such that even we cannot read it. For us, privacy is not just a policy; it is our ethos.

Tunnel T "superenciphers" all stored messages and files with AES, TwoFish, and Serpent using different 256-bit keys for each layer. (These three encryption algorithms are all widely adopted and have been studied by academics and hackers alike for over a decade.)
