Type Cast

Type Cast is a monospace notes app that looks and feels like a terminal log. Every entry is a flat row: a coloured type mark on the left, a timestamp, a file-extension type code (.txt, .chk, .lst, .qte, .sh), and your title. No rounded cards, no illustrations. Just clean, dense, readable text in a fixed-width font.

FIVE ENTRY TYPES

.txt free prose. A thought, a paragraph, a morning note.

.chk a checklist. Tap to open and tick items off.

.lst a bullet list. One item per line.

.qte a pull quote with a left accent bar.

.sh a code or shell snippet in monospace.

Each entry shows its type code in its own colour: amber for .txt, teal for .chk, green for .lst, pink for .qte, blue for .sh. The whole interface uses a fixed-width font so every column lines up perfectly.

THE LOG

A compact header shows the brand name and your current run streak as RUN:N. Directly below it, a full-width amber action bar -- tap it once to open a new entry. The rest of the screen is a dense list of all your entries, newest first. Each row shows: a 3px coloured left mark, a timestamp (today / yest / Nd ago), the type code, a flag (*) if the entry is flagged, the title, and the label or word count.

No scrolling through decorative cards. Just the log.

LABELS

Every entry can have one label (a short hashtag like #work or #code). The Labels screen shows every label with entry counts and a type breakdown. Tap a label to filter.

FLAGS

Flag important entries with a * mark. They rise to the top in the flagged filter and show the amber star in every log row. Unflag from the long-press menu.

FILTERS

[ALL] [FLAG] [REC] [ARC] -- four one-tap filters above the log. REC shows entries touched in the past 7 days. ARC shows archived entries.

RUN STREAK

A live day-run counter in the header. Hit 3, 7, 14, 30, 100, 180, or 365 consecutive days and the log shows a comment milestone: // run: 7 day sequence. The 7-day activity strip at the bottom of the log shows how many entries you made each day this week.

SEARCH

A / prompt at the top of the log filters by title, body, or label as you type.

OPTIONS

- Dark theme on or off (switches to warm cream paper).

- Font size: small, regular, large.

- Default entry type.

- Sort order: recent edit, title, manual, type.

- Show archived in main log.

- Soft haptics on or off.

- Clear archive.

- Delete all entries.

OFFLINE AND PRIVATE

- Entirely offline. No internet required.

- All entries stay on your device.

- Encrypted with AES at rest, key held in the Android Keystore.

- No analytics, no accounts, no tracking.
