Double Check: Scam Detector

Double Check is a free scam checker that tells you whether a suspicious message is real or a scam, in plain language, in seconds.

Forward a text, email, link, website, invoice, or phone number and get a straight answer: scam or safe, and why. Every basic check is free and unlimited. No limits, no charge, as many times as you need.

Built for people who want to be sure before they click, pay, or call back, without needing to be tech-savvy and without having to ask a family member every time.

WHAT YOU CAN CHECK

- Text messages and SMS that look off, including smishing links

- Phishing emails asking you to confirm your details or pay something

- Links and fake websites you are not sure about

- Phone numbers and missed calls from people you do not know

- Invoices, receipts, and payment requests

HOW IT WORKS

1. Paste or share whatever looks suspicious

2. Double Check reads it and looks for the signs of fraud

3. You get a clear verdict and a simple explanation of what gave it away

SCAMS THIS HELPS WITH

Double Check recognises the scams people actually receive:

- Phishing emails pretending to be your bank, a retailer, or a government office

- Fake delivery and package texts asking for a small redelivery fee

- Grandparent scams where someone claims a relative is in trouble

- Medicare, tax, and benefits messages demanding urgent payment

- Romance and investment approaches that ask for money or gift cards

- Refund and prize messages that need your card details first

If you have ever wondered "is this a scam?", that is exactly what this app answers.

DAILY BRAIN GAMES

Two minutes a day keeps your mind sharp and your guard up.

- Spot the Scam: one real-style message a day. Scam or safe?

- Mini Crossword: a 5x5 puzzle where every answer is a scam-safety word, like WIRE, CODE, or VERIFY.

No timer, no pressure. Practising the words a scammer uses makes them easier to notice in a real text.

MADE WITH OLDER ADULTS IN MIND

Large, readable text. No jargon. Nothing to configure. Older adults and seniors are targeted more than any other group, and elder fraud usually works by creating panic. Double Check gives seniors and their families a calm second opinion, without anyone feeling embarrassed for asking.

DOUBLE CHECK PRO

For those who want more support, Pro adds:

- Step-by-step guidance on exactly what to do after a verdict

- Family alerts, so a trusted relative or advisor is notified when something high-risk is flagged

- Check history, so you can look back at everything you have checked

Try Pro with a 7-day free trial, where available.

NO SURVEILLANCE. NO TRACKING.

Double Check never monitors your accounts, contacts, messages, or activity. Nothing is scanned in the background. You choose what to submit, and when. We do not sell your data.

A SECOND OPINION, ANYTIME

Scammers rely on you feeling rushed and alone with the decision. Double Check gives you somewhere to stop and verify before you act.

A free scam checker you can use as often as you like. No account needed to run your first check.
