I became a vegetarian at 13 and transitioned to full vegan by the time I was 18. My mom embraced my lifestyle and adapted traditional Mexican recipes so I would always feel welcomed at our family’s table. In the same spirit of inclusion, my family and I decided to bring her delicious creations to you. We opened our first Taqueria Los Gorditos in 2006.
Vegans have found comfort at Los Gorditos. From day one, our rice, beans, and salsas have always been vegan. We offered vegan specials on Fridays and opened an all-vegan truck at City Bikes. We’ve experimented with a number of enticing entree choices including soyrizo, tofu, seitan, and tempeh. It all came together in today’s vegan menu, featuring tofu, soyrizo, Soy Curls, Follow Your Heart cheese, and Tofutti sour cream.
At every Los Gorditos, we are committed to serving food that is vegan. We’re proud to have been Portland’s first Mexican food truck offering vegan options and we’re proud to continue bringing everyone together around food we can all enjoy.
