vsbl is an interactive micro-credentialing platform designed for users seeking to award Education Design Lab’s 21st Century Skills Microcredentials to learners. vsbl enables learning providers of all backgrounds (four-year institutions to community colleges to high schools to employers) to engage with and award the Lab’s Microcredentials in three ways:

1. Free Toolkit

Access to the Lab’s 21st Century Skills Microcredentials content for free.

2. Plug and Play

For a subscription fee, ability to embed the Lab’s Microcredentials into your Learning Management System.

3. Hosted

For a subscription fee, ability to host your learners on our platform, allowing them to earn the Lab’s Microcredentials on our platform.

WHY THE LAB’S 21ST CENTURY SKILLS MICROCREDENTIALS

After years of research and on-the-ground work with academia, students, employers, assessment providers, and technologists, the Lab designed a rigorous set of eight microcredentials that represent the most in-demand skills employers are seeking and people need to be nimble in today’s workforce. transform the way learners recognize and activate their skills. Our microcredential framework is unique. By unbundling each skill, the Lab identified more discrete skills that allow learners to practice them in a targeted way.

The Lab is committed to improving this framework as needed and will continue to use what we learn through our direct work with stakeholders to inform our thinking and the microcredential earning experience.
