Wilson Abubakar Radido is a Kenyan award-winning artist and songwriter from Nairobi, Kenya. He is also the chief executive officer and founder of Saldido international entertainment. Willy Paul was named male artist of the year at the 2013 Groove Awards alongside his mentor Gloria Muliro who took the female artist of the year award. Some of his well-known singles are I do ft Alaine from Jamaica, njiwa ft Nandy from Tanzania, hallelujah ft Nandy from Tanzania, Sikireti ft Cecil from Jamaica, Nobody ft yemi alade from Nigeria, mmmh ft @rayvanny from Tanzania, jigi jigi, kanungo, malingo, and You never Know which have earned him recognition and a tour of the US where he performed in several states.
He first gained recognition after recording the song Sitolia with Gloria Muliro which, although, was an object of controversy after several claims by Willy that he was not earning much from the song because Gloria Muliro allegedly owned exclusive copyrights to the song. They nevertheless were able to iron out their differences and even went on to record another hit song, Kitanzi In 2012, he was nominated for the Kisima Music Awards' Male Artist of the year.
Early life
Wilson Shikwekwe Radido was born to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Radido on September 1993 in Mathare slums. Mr. Radido, who was of Ugandan descent, was a carpenter, while his wife, an immigrant from Tanzania, was a salonist up until 2011, when a chronic illness confined her to her bed. Paul dropped out of school in 2011 due to financial constraints following his father's death. He was forced to engage in Juakali jobs to generate income to support his bedridden mother alongside his three siblings.
