Record WiFi and BLE signals for location research

Worldstein is an app for engineers working on presence technologies.

Worldstein looks for WiFi and BLE hardware and records it to a file. You can transfer the file to a computer via email or with the adb utility. (BLE is Bluetooth Low Energy). Worldstein records each WiFi access point and BLE beacon seen by the phone, with MAC address, signal strength, etc. Since the signal strengths will vary over time, Worldstein continues to record the same hardware.

You can enter text notes to tag portions of the data.

Worldstein does not initiate or monitor any WiFi/BLE connections - it only surveys the hardware.

Worldstein does not contain ads, nor does it phone home.
