What is the theory of generations

The beginning of the theory of generations was laid exactly thirty years ago by the American writer, teacher and theater figure William Strauss, in collaboration with Neil Howe, a research fellow and consultant to many leading research centers in the United States. The Strauss-Howe theory of generations, also called the fourth turn theory, describes the cycle of change four types of generations, invariably repeated in history over the past half millennium.
