রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর এই বইয়ের ভূমিকা লিখেছিলেন। এরপর থেকে এর শত শত সংস্করণ প্রকাশিত হয়েছে। রিনা প্রীতিশ নন্দী কর্তৃক অনূদিত এর একটি ইংরেজি সংস্করণও বের হয়েছে।
