Shakta poet Ramaprasad Sen, the original composer of Shyamasangita or Kalikirtan, was given the status of Sabhakabi, 100 acres of clean land and the title of Kabiranjan by Maharaja Krishnachandra Raya of Nadia. He was born in the womb of Siddheshwari Devi, the second wife of a Sanskrit scholar and Ayurvedic doctor named Ramram Sen, at a place on the banks of the Hooghly river called Halishahar in the North Twenty-four Parganas district of West Bengal in 1720 AD at the end of the Mughal period. After marrying a girl named Sarvani at the age of 18, Kulguru became attached to Ma-Kali with the initiation of Madhabacharya. He then took the discipleship of Tantric yogi Krishnananda Agambagish, the author of the Shakta Tantra Tantrasara and the promoter of Kali worship in Bangladesh. Ramprasad created a new trend in Bengali music. Many famous composers including Rabindranath Tagore have composed songs on Ramprasadi tunes. Ramprasad's son Ramdulal Sen also composed many devotional songs. In 1775 AD, Ramprasad drowned in the water of Ganga while immersing the idol of Kali.
