Acquasorgente

Acquasorgente is the new project of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) dedicated to the identification, classification and monitoring of water sources located in mountain areas throughout the national territory. This initiative aims to provide a detailed and updated vision of the sources present in the Alpine and Apennine territories, offering crucial information for their management and conservation.

The main objectives of Acquasorgente include:

Source mapping: Determine how many sources exist in the Alpine and Apennine territories, identifying their exact location.

Characteristics Classification: Document the characteristics of each source, including water quality, flow rate, and seasonal variations.

Temporal monitoring: Observe and record variations in sources over time to better understand environmental and climate changes.

The project starts from a solid base of existing data: the 117,000 sources already documented along the Italian hiking network, collected in 25 national and regional databases. This data will be integrated and updated to provide a complete and precise overview of our country's water sources.

Acquasorgente is not only a tool for industry experts, but also for hikers and nature lovers, who will be able to contribute by reporting new springs and providing updates on the conditions of those already known. The app offers an intuitive and accessible interface, facilitating the participation of all those who wish to contribute to the protection and enhancement of mountain water resources.
