In Indonesia, writing about Islamic theology is still very rare, because in reality, the theology that is known so far is only oriented towards theology of the Asyariyah school which tends to be conservative. So many Indonesian Muslims think that understanding the Asyariyah sect is the only correct theological teaching in Islam.

Furthermore, they consider that apart from the Asyariyah school of theology which is usually known as the Ahl al Sunnah wa al Jamaah group, other theological schools are not included in Islamic theology. Al-Juwaini, one of the famous Muslim theologians who lived during the time of conflict between the Asyariyah and Mutazilah schools, emerged with his rational and systematic theological thoughts. Even though he is known as a follower of the Asyariyah sect, what is unique is that his comments and thoughts refer to an understanding of the teachings of the Mutazilah, Maturidiyah, and also the teachings of the Asyariyah itself.

Tsuroya Kiswati brilliantly explains everything about Al Juwaini's revolutionary thoughts in this book, especially in bridging conservative and rational thought regarding theological issues.
