IEUK TESOL

A TESOL teacher training programme for Imperial English UK partners, consisting of 14 modules to update theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Self-study video lectures and theory components include the four skills, plus classroom management, learner profiles, assessment methods, lesson planning and contemporary topics of English for Academic Purposes, teaching large classes and Global Englishes. The contents reflect current trends in ESOL in the UK to ensure teachers delivering IEUK academy courses are confident and competent. Participants are encouraged to pause videos to consider tasks and develop self-reflection skills by completing learner journals. Reading extracts are provided to highlight the underpinning theories. Partner academies have the opportunity to have live online workshops with a UK teacher trainer to highlight key areas, provide practical teaching tips and answer participants’ queries to help them achieve the Imperial English UK TESOL Certificate on successful completion of the training. The topics included are intended to generate interest and encourage further exploration as part of continual professional development.
