About Decimation

Decimation is a sci-fi tower defense game with real-time ARPG hero combat.

Developed by Elementum Software Development Services, Decimation stands out by making the player an active fighter instead of a distant commander. Towers still hold the line, but the hero must dodge, attack, and react when enemy pressure rises. This Early Access roguelite strategy mixes careful planning with fast battles, and its main systems include:

  • Direct hero control with four active combat abilities

  • Tactical towers that can be placed and upgraded

  • Random battle effects from elite enemy power-up orbs

  • Loot crafting and skill-point progression between missions

  • Campaign acts plus repeatable Endless Challenge levels

Active Hero Battles

Decimation puts a controllable hero directly inside every defense encounter. Rather than simply watching towers handle incoming waves, players move around the battlefield, avoid enemy attacks, and use four active abilities to support the defensive line. Skills become available through cooldowns or energy gained from defeated enemies, so timing matters during crowded fights.

The action has a clear ARPG hero combat feel without leaving tower-defense priorities behind. A hero can draw attention from dangerous targets, collect dropped power-ups, or deal extra damage where a tower setup is under pressure. Players looking for a relaxed, automated defense experience may find the manual control demanding, especially when enemies arrive from several directions at once.

Tower Placement and Resource Choices

Decimation retains the tactical decisions expected from a sci-fi tower defense game. Players build, position, and upgrade towers with different battlefield roles, then decide where limited resources will have the most impact. A strong position can slow or weaken a route before enemies reach the colony’s key defenses, while poor coverage leaves the hero with more to manage.

Combat works best when tower layouts and hero attacks cover each other’s weaknesses. For example, a player may hold a busy lane with upgraded defenses while moving the hero toward a tougher enemy group elsewhere. This balance gives each wave more involvement than a defense game built only around placements and upgrades.

Random Roguelite Battle Effects

Decimation adds changing conditions to missions through power-up orbs dropped by elite enemies. When one appears, players choose one of three random effects that can influence damage, movement speed, resources, or other combat conditions. These choices can change the direction of a run, particularly when a selected effect suits the current tower layout or hero skills.

The system encourages players to adjust rather than repeat one fixed plan every time. One battle may reward faster attacks and direct hero pressure, while another may make resource-focused choices more appealing for tower improvements. Because the options are random, not every selection will match a preferred build, which keeps the roguelite strategy element meaningful without guaranteeing an ideal setup.

Loot, Crafting, and Early Access Content

Decimation continues progression between battles with equipment crafting and skill points. Loot earned during missions can be turned into gear for heroes and towers, while skill points improve the hero over time. This gives campaign progress a practical reward beyond simply clearing the next level, and it offers reasons to revisit combat with a different build.

Early Access currently contains two campaign acts and two Endless Challenge levels. The available campaign is estimated at around three and a half hours, so it is best suited to players comfortable with an unfinished release that is still growing. The planned full version aims for four acts, 16 levels, and three difficulty tiers, but those additions are not part of the current content.

Decimation Pros & Cons

Decimation is strongest when active hero movement and defensive planning must work together, while its current limits mainly come from its Early Access scope. The available modes provide build experimentation, but the campaign is still shorter than the planned full release.

Pros

  • Combines tower planning with hands-on action combat

  • Four hero abilities add timing-based battle decisions

  • Random effects support varied builds between runs

  • Crafting and skill points reward continued progression

  • Includes campaign missions and Endless Challenge stages

Cons

  • Current campaign includes only two planned acts

  • Manual hero control may not suit passive-defense fans
