InkSafe - Private Notebook

InkSafe is a private notebook you write in by hand, by keyboard, or both, on real paper. Choose from 52 paper types, draw with your finger, fill in a form, and export a clean PDF or Word document. Everything stays on your device.

- Engineering paper, with or without an editable title block

- Spreadsheet paper with editable cells

- Sheet music: treble, bass, and grand staff, with tap-to-place notes and rests

- Sport-court paper for 8 sports (football full and half field, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, tennis, volleyball, ice hockey) with draggable player markers. Turn it on in Settings.

- Dedicated typing paper with adjustable text size

- Letter, Legal, Tabloid, or A4 page size, or fit to your screen

31 FILLABLE FORM TEMPLATES

Tap a field and type, or write over it by hand. Meeting notes and minutes, client meetings, project timelines and summaries, task and to-do trackers, priority grids, day organizers, brain dumps, phone-call logs, mind maps, daily checklists, amp and speaker troubleshooting sheets, an equipment issue and RMA sheet, and more. Typed fields and pen strokes live on the same page and export together. Save any page as your own template under My Templates.

IMPORT A PDF AND WRITE ON IT

Pick any PDF and InkSafe renders its pages as backgrounds you can trace, annotate, and sign over. Multi-page documents import as a set of linked pages you can flip through. Import a photo the same way.

MULTI-PAGE NOTEBOOKS

Continue a note on a new page and InkSafe keeps the pages together: grouped in your list, numbered, with next and previous arrows in the editor. Sort your notes by date, name, page count, or size. Search the typed text, form fields, and spreadsheet cells of your notes (handwriting is not searched). Each note shows when it was last changed.

HANDWRITING THAT BEHAVES

- Ink in a full color palette, with adjustable stroke widths

- Shapes tool: straight line, arrow, rectangle, circle, plus speaker, display, rack, microphone, camera, and projector symbols

- Hold the pen still at the end of a rough line, box, or circle and it snaps straight

- An eraser that reaches your strokes at any zoom level

- One undo button that steps back through pen strokes AND typed form fields in the order you actually made them

- Pinch to zoom and pan around a page larger than your screen

- Measure distances on gridded paper in inches, feet, cm, m, or mm

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT

- Lock the app with a 4-digit PIN, a fingerprint, or face unlock

- App Lock: optional at-rest encryption of your notes, folders, and ink behind a 6-digit PIN, using XSalsa20-Poly1305 authenticated encryption, with a recovery code

- Lock an individual note or a whole folder, and give folders and notes their own separate codes if you like

- No account, no cloud, no sync. Your notes never leave your device unless you export or send them.

EXPORT, SEND, AND PRINT

- Export any selection of notes, in the order you choose, to a single PDF or a Word (.docx) file

- Send a note to another device running InkSafe as an InkSafe file, and import it there as a fully editable note with its ink, paper, and images

- Print a page straight from the editor

- Add blank spacer pages between notes

- Nested folders to organize everything

PRICING

InkSafe is free, supported by banner ads. Every feature above works in the free version. One optional in-app purchase ($4.99, one time, not a subscription) removes the ads and removes the small "Made with InkSafe" line from your exports.

PRIVACY

Your notes, drawings, and imported files stay on your device. There is no cloud sync and no account. The free version shows ads via Google AdMob, which uses an advertising identifier. Read our privacy policy at https://griswoldlabs.com/privacy/inksafe/
